When your fasting glucose score is expressed in mg/dl:

HOMA-IR = Glucose x Insulin ÷ 405 = Insulin Resistance Score

When your fasting glucose score is expressed in mmol/L:

HOMA-IR = Glucose x Insulin ÷ 22.5 = Insulin Resistance Score

Then, compare your number to the ranges below to measure your degree of Insulin Resistance…or hopefully…Insulin Sensitivity:

The normal HOMA-IR value of healthy human ranges from 0.5-1.4

Less than 1.0 means you are insulin-sensitive which is optimal.

Above 1.9 indicates early insulin resistance.

Above 2.9 indicates significant insulin resistance.
