In July 2009, the USDA Research Center on Aging looked at telomere length, and one of the ingredients in TeloVite called folate. Now the study looked at 195 men, and they found that those men with higher folate levels had longer telomeres. We also matched the folate with vitamin B12, because studies show, when they’re combined it creates an additional pathway to longer telomeres – in humans.**


Results from a recent population study suggest that at key micronutrients affect genome stability in human subjects. The results have recently been reported in a cytogenetic epidemiological study of 190 healthy individuals designed to determine the association between dietary intake and genome damage in lymphocytes. The highest tertile of intake of vitamin E, vitamin A, folate, preformed niacin (niacin or niacinamide) and calcium is associated with significant reductions in chromosome breakage or loss.**


There was an exciting 2010 human study published in the British Journal of Nutrition. The researchers found that the cells of regular tea drinkers may have a younger biological age than cells from non-drinkers. They looked at the ‘telomere’ length of 976 Chinese men aged 65 and over. Here’s what they found:**

3 cups per day of green or oolong tea, both derived from the same plant, was associated with significantly longer telomere lengths, which corresponds to, now get this, “approximately a difference of 5 years of life.” That’s 5 added years!**

Vitamin D is the hottest vitamin out there today, and here’s a good reason. In a 2007 study from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, they looked at 2,160 women, those with higher vitamin D levels had fewer aging-related changes in their DNA. But guess what? They were also more likely to have longer telomeres. In fact, a positive 5 years difference in telomere aging, the same result as the green tea study. There’s also a double blind, randomized and placebo-controlled clinical trial, the gold standard for research, published in the International Journal of Obesity in June 2012. They looked at whether vitamin D would positively impact the telomeres of overweight adults.**

National Institute of Health researchers were the first to report, in a study published in the March 2009 issue of American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, epidemiological evidence that regular multivitamin use was associated with longer telomeres among women.**

The study found that when compared to non-users of multivitamins, the women who used multivitamins had an average of 5.1 percent longer telomeres, which can translate to a difference of a potential 9.8 years of age-related telomere loss.**

The micronutrients most likely to have an important role in preserving telomeres, wrote the scientists, were vitamins C, D, E and certain B vitamins. Based on previous cell culture and animal studies, the authors stated that the higher dietary intake of vitamins C and E is thought to have made an impact on slowing telomere loss due to protection against free radicals, which cause oxidative stress.**


Resveratrol was introduced into the dietary supplement market years ago because it was thought that resveratrol, and other polyphenol compounds from red wine, may contribute to the “French Paradox,” the unexpectedly longer lifespans found in the Mediterranean population, despite a diet that is relatively high in saturated fat.**

In-vitro studies suggest that resveratrol is capable of promoting telomerase activity, thereby helping to maintain telomere length. Likewise, resveratrol has also demonstrated an ability to delay cell senescence (cell aging) by its action on telomerase, that healthy lifespan enzyme.**

In addition, research has shown that resveratrol significantly extends the lifespan of lower organisms such as the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the worm Caenorhabditis elegans and the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. Other research demonstrated that resveratrol had similar positive lifespan effects on the short-lived fish, Nothobranchius furzeri, also increasing swimming performance, and cognitive performance. Another study has shown that resveratrol improved the health and survival of mice that were on a high-calorie diet.**


Higher lutein, zeaxanthin, and vitamin C concentrations in plasma are strongly associated with longer telomere length in normal elderly persons and suggest a protective role of these vitamins in telomere maintenance.**


In-vitro research has demonstrated that L-Carnosine can maintain and actually lengthen telomeres. Due to the potent antioxidant action of L-Carnosine, the naturally derived nutrient is shown to play a protective role for telomeres while decreasing the rate of telomere shortening during cell division, effectively slowing down the aging process of cells.**

L-Carnosine is found in high concentrations in the muscle and in the brain. It’s believed to possess a significant number of powerful antioxidant properties.**


Oxidative agents like free radicals can cause damage to your cellular DNA, including telomere length. In one study, cells exposed to the oxidative effects of hydrogen peroxide, telomere length decreased significantly, coupled with a decline of telomerase activity. Telomerase is our enzyme responsible for lengthening telomeres.**

However, these decreases were prevented with prior and post treatment of Chlorella vulgaris to those cells. Chlorella, a powerful biochemical detoxifier, has been found to be an effective preventive against telomerase-shortening due to oxidative damage.**


Grape Seed Polyphenols contain oligomeric proanthocyanadins, OPCs, a group of powerful bioflavonoids. They have documented effectiveness as free radical scavengers. There is evidence that OPC’s may play a role in inhibiting enzymes that are involved in the degrading of skin and blood vessels.**

Additionally, polyphenols from grape seed provide additional protection for your DNA and telomeres from oxidative stress, free radicals. Mice fed grape seed polyphenols had longer telomeres compared to controls.**


Magnesium is necessary for many enzymes involved with your DNA replication and repair. Dietary magnesium has also been shown to positively correlate with increased telomere length in women.**

One animal study shows that magnesium deficiency is associated with increased free radical damage and shorter telomeres. A human cell study shows that magnesium deprivation causes rapid loss of telomeres and inhibits cell replication, the most important genetic role of telomeres.**

It appears the lack of magnesium ions has a negative influence on genome integrity. Insufficient amounts of magnesium also reduce your body’s ability to repair damaged DNA, and can induce chromosomal abnormalities.**

Q. Do I really need to take a multivitamin?

A. Research suggests that most Americans are not receiving the recommended amounts of key vitamins and minerals in their diet. Q. Why is TeloVite in Tablets not Capsules?

A. Some supplements are better suited for capsules, while others are better suited for tablets. Complex products with multiple ingredients, such as TeloVite, are better suited for tablets for two reasons:**

First, less total pills are required to provide the full daily dose. In the case of TeloVite, only three tablets are required, instead of four to five capsules.**

Second, individual nutrients in TeloVite can be protected against any undesirable interactions with one another when in the tablet matrix; this would not be the case in a capsule.

Finally, any concerns about TeloVite tablets breaking down adequately during digestion can be put to rest. Every batch of TeloVite is tested to verify that it will break down within 45 minutes in water, so they will certainly break down in the digestive system.**

Q. What is the quality control for TeloVite?

A. TeloVite is manufactured under GMP (good manufacturing practices) standards. Every TeloVite raw material is tested prior to production for ID (accurate identification), potency, purity, strength, heavy metals and micros (living organisms such as e. coli, salmonella etc.).

We also send out monthly a random sampling of products (based on statistical analyses) for third party testing to confirm the results we have received from prior testing. If any OOS (Out of Specification)* is discovered, it is immediately retested by both us and sent out to a third party lab. If the OOS is confirmed, an investigation is initiated.

Q. What is the absorption rate of TeloVite or any dietary supplements?

A. It’s a function of:

1. Individual biochemistry and absorptive ability, and

2. The form of the nutrients used in the products.

TeloVite utilizes the forms of nutrients shown to be effective in human clinical research, which is a reflection of the fact that good absorption is taking place. If there wasn’t good absorption, there wouldn’t be good results in the research.**

It isn’t really possible, however to give a total “absorption rate” for a multi-nutrient formula like TeloVite since there would be individual differences from person to person. Nevertheless, given the forms of nutrients utilized, we would expect optimal absorption.**

Q.  Is Vitamin K2 safe to take with prescription blood thinners?

A.Warfarin (Coumadin) is a medicine prescribed for people at increased risk of forming blood clots too easily and quickly which, in turn, could block the flow of blood to the heart or brain. Blood clots are formed through a series of chemical reactions in your body. Vitamin K is essential for those reactions. Warfarin (Coumadin) works by decreasing the activity of vitamin K; lengthening the time it takes for a clot to form. Does this mean that vitamin K should be avoided either through food or supplement sources? Not necessarily. The fact is that vitamin K is an essential nutrient that your body still needs.**

According to the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, Drug-Nutrient Interaction Task Force, what is important is to:

“Keep your vitamin K intake consistent from day to day.”

“For example, if you typically have a spinach salad daily, do not stop eating it entirely.”

With regard to dietary supplements containing vitamin K, the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center gives this advice:

“If they are taken regularly on a daily basis, they pose less of a problem than if taken off and on.”

The Daily Value for vitamin K1, derived from leafy greens, is 80 mcg. It is important to note that Vitamin K2 is found in few plant foods. Vitamin K2 is found in meat and animal derived foods. Natto, a fermented soybean product, is the only vegetarian source.

Q. Is magnesium stearate toxic?

A. No. Magnesium stearate is safe, not toxic. We have extensively investigated the safety of magnesium stearate. Allegations of toxicity have been circulating for over 20 years. We have found the “evidence” to be misleading because it is either largely circumstantial based on test tube studies that don’t accurately represent the data observed in human clinical trials or based on theoretical dangers (such as a type of processing that is not commonly used to make stearic acid from unsaturated fats). Either way, the reality of dietary fats in the human body is quite different than what these theories present.

Q. Why is magnesium stearate used in some products?

A. Natural ingredients don’t always smoothly flow through processing equipment and manufacturers need to utilize excipients like stearates to fill capsules or form tablets.
